Inside Joke: Tijuana’s Rising Sonic Force

​Hailing from the vibrant border town of Tijuana, Baja California, Inside Joke formed between 2016 and 2017 with a clear mission: to craft a fresh, genre-blending sound. Following a series of lineup refinements, the band has solidified into a powerful power-trio featuring Enrique Barajas (guitar/vocals), Gabriel Ledezma (bass), and Víctor Gándara (drums). Together, they deliver an energetic fusion of styles rooted in modern rock and punk.

The Journey & Sonic Evolution

​2024: First Releases & Cross-Border Breakthrough

​Inside Joke burst onto the scene on March 19, 2024, with their debut single and music video, "Paraíso." This paved the way for their debut EP, Fuera de Órbita (released April 14, 2024). Recorded at Mexicali’s renowned 17 Estudio under the guidance of producer/engineer Isaac Serrano, the EP showcased the band's collaborative spirit, featuring Cristian Gutierrez (keyboards/backing vocals) and Alma Delia Barajas (backing vocals).

​The EP spawned key singles like "Aquí" (released May 10, 2024, with an official lyric visualizer) and "Al Final..." (which received a promotional video premiere on January 24, 2025) and the song “Espectador”.

​Live Highlights: 2024 marked their breakthrough into the live circuit, securing standout slots at Tijuana’s Food & Drink Fest (Vols. 3 & 4) and making their highly anticipated international debut in San Diego, California.

2025: Sol a Favor & Expanding Horizons

​In late 2024, the band returned to 17 Estudio to capture their next sonic chapter. The result was their second EP, Sol a Favor, released on April 5, 2025. Once again featuring Gutierrez and Barajas on harmonies, the record expanded their catalog with tracks like "Mantra" and the title track, "Sol a Favor."

​The rollout featured heavy visual accompaniment, including the hit promotional single "Alas" (March 8, 2025) and the follow-up single "Fiel" (May 30, 2025), both accompanied by cinematic music videos. Inside Joke spent the rest of 2025 touring heavily, building a dedicated cross-border fanbase between Tijuana and San Diego.

2026: The Cachanilla Trilogy & Mundo Extraño

​Closing out 2025, Inside Joke locked themselves back in Mexicali’s 17 Estudio alongside producer Isaac Serrano to complete what they now proudly call the Cachanilla Trilogy.

​On January 30, 2026, they dropped "Mundo Extraño," a bold, irreverent track featuring socially conscious lyrics that transcend borders, blending studio experimentation with their raw punk roots. They followed it up with "Voz de Minorías," a powerful anthem for freedom of expression. The track stands out for utilizing the original synthesizer tracks from the demo, giving it a distinct electronic, semi-industrial edge. The full EP, titled Mundo, officially dropped on April 17, 2026, rounded out by the haunting tracks "Recuerdos" and “Sombra.”
